The dazzling color and vibrance of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol launches us on a dramatic evening of expressive detail. We welcome cellist Evan Kahn, a musician of exceptional warmth whose playing is described as “electrifying, nuanced, and colorful.” He is featured in two works, introducing us to music of his father, then diving into AntonĂn Dvořák’s delightful Rondo for Cello and Orchestra. We close with Dvořák’s compelling and passionate Symphony No. 7.
