Josepha Fath became the LAS concertmaster
at the start of the 2022–2023 season.
Josepha Fath reports that she is thrilled to have been appointed as Concertmaster with Livermore-Amador Symphony. She has enjoyed working with Maestra Lara Webber and the orchestra since she first played and coached sectionals with them many years ago.
Josepha performs with orchestras throughout the Bay Area, including the California Symphony, the San Francisco Opera Center Orchestra, Lamplighters Musical Theater, Opera San Jose, the Oakland Symphony, and the Skywalker Symphony, where she has recorded soundtracks for Jurassic Park III (2001), The Boston Strangler on Hulu (2022), and the motion picture Renfield (2023). She has performed in concert with Andrea Bocelli, Björk, Joni Mitchell, and Bernadette Peters.
An avid chamber musician, Josepha is co-founder of the Milley Award-winning Fath Chamber Players along with her father, clarinetist Philip Fath. She has performed for Noontime Concerts at Old St. Mary’s Cathedral, San Francisco Community Music Center’s Shenson Faculty concert series, and at 142 Throckmorton in her hometown of Mill Valley, CA.
She received her musical training as a scholarship recipient at the San Domenico School and furthered her musical education at San Francisco State University and the Manhattan School of Music.
Josepha teaches violin at both the San Francisco Community Music Center and the French American International School. Her students range in age from 5 to 90—it’s never too early or too late to learn to play the violin.
Josepha lives in Oakland with her husband, trumpeter William Harvey, and their domesticated cat, Charlie.
